Dear John,
The future of Social Security and Medicare has been an ongoing topic of discussion in Washington this year as House Republicans are threatening to cut funding for these programs that so many in the 39th District, and across the nation, pay into and depend on. Social Security was created in response to the plight of starving elderly Americans during the Great Depression, and more than 46 million retirees rely on the program today. Social Security is vital for the health and well-being of many in our community, and I am committed to its protection.
Today, on the 83rd anniversary of the first ever Social Security check, I wanted to hear your thoughts on this social insurance program.
