KnowTheChain released its 2022 Benchmark report ([link removed]) assessing Information & Communications Technology sector disclosures related to addressing forced labor and human trafficking in supply chains. Even the highest-rated companies scored less than 65/100, and the average score on purchasing practices was just 2/100.

Thanks to the tireless work of agencies like Centro de los Derechos del Migrante, Mexico and the U.S. signed a historic agreement ([link removed]) on protections for migrant workers, a watershed moment for strengthening workers’ rights and the first time ever that migrant women’s demands have been answered in an agreement between the U.S. and Mexico.

Congratulations to Fainess Lipenga from the Human Trafficking Legal Center for being appointed ([link removed]) to the U.S. Advisory Council on Human Trafficking!

The New Humanitarian released its 2023 trends brief ([link removed]) , which looks at the trends driving humanitarian need and this year’s worsening outlook for crises and affected people around the globe.

Following multiple ([link removed]) stories ([link removed]) from The Fuller Project, the U.S. federal government has added uterine cancer to the list of conditions covered by the World Trade Center Health Program. Until now, uterine cancer was the only cancer that remained off the list of covered illnesses, forcing women to pay for their treatment out of pocket.

Freedom Fund CEO Nick Grono wrote a piece ([link removed]) for the Center on Effective Philanthropy on their approach to systems measurement and how that translates into impact.

The Investment Integration Project (TIIP) announced ([link removed]) the formation of a Racial Equity Working Group to lift up racial injustice as a systemic risk and guide investors in becoming part of the solution through the deployment of system-level investing strategies, policies, programs, or products.

HU Managing Director of Public Engagement Kehinde Togun reflected on the Africa Leaders Summit on CSIS’s Into Africa podcast ([link removed]) . Along with Brookings’ Aloysius Ordu, Kehinde joined host Mvemba Phezo Dizolele to explore U.S. government commitments as well as some of the missed opportunities.

Congratulations to HU’s Ayla Francis and Noah Ponton for being selected ([link removed]) in Foreign Policy for America’s NextGen cohort, which spotlights and supports diverse young leaders from across the country who can advance principled American engagement in the world.

HU Director of Peacebuilding Leslie Wingender joined the Kroc Institute at an event ([link removed]) celebrating the Legacy Project, which oversees the migration of the Colombian Truth Commission's digital archives.

HU Director of Policy & Government Relations Maria Kisumbi is co-chairing a working group focused on the Great Lakes region of Africa. The objectives are: 1) to establish a group of policy thought leaders who can collectively advocate for the U.S. government to prioritize human rights and democracy issues in the Great Lakes region, and 2) to foster an ongoing exchange between civil society activists across the Great Lakes Region and elevate their voices in U.S.-focused policy discussions.
