Hi John,
Bloomberg is reporting that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer wants to fast-track KOSA (Kids Online Safety Act), yet another dangerous tech bill that has been opposed by human rights experts.1 Like SOPA/PIPA and the EARN IT Act before it, KOSA is misguided and riddled with provisions that that could easily threaten privacy, safety, and access to information online.
Late last year, KOSA was included in a must-pass spending bill and we mobilized a massive effort to stop it in its tracks.2 But now we have to do it again and we have to move ASAP. This is coming up way faster than we expected. Can you support Fight with a rush donation so that we can blanket the Senate with calls to oppose this bill?

Don’t be misled by the KOSA’s name. This bill should be dropped right now if lawmakers truly want to help kids. KOSA could:
-
Block kids and youth from accessing critical reproductive health, mental health, or LGBTQ+ resources
-
Empower authority figures, including law enforcement, to surveil kids and teens online
-
Encourage platforms to collect more info about all users in their attempt to adhere to the law
In fact, KOSA is so fatally flawed that over 90 organizations have signed on to a letter opposing it.3 Instead of pushing poorly written, dangerous legislation that curtails people’s rights to information and privacy, Congress should be considering meaningful privacy laws.
