I became the first in our family to graduate from a four-year college and eventually earned a Ph.D.

And I was called to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s pulpit to serve as the senior pastor.

But I know that the opportunities that made my journey possible are growing further and further out of reach for far too many across this country.

That’s why I’ve dedicated my time in Congress to fighting for our families.
