Dear John
Imagine if your major life decisions were dictated by a single piece of paperwork—a waiver application. Without it, you had no ability to move forward with pursuing legal status, leaving you and your family in a state of limbo.
That is the reality for a group of immigrants who just sued [[link removed]] U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Even though USCIS already approved the immigrant petitions submitted by their U.S. citizen family members over a year ago, the agency has left them stuck. USCIS has failed to act on their waiver applications, delaying their ability to go abroad to complete the visa process and quickly return to the United States and their families.

USCIS used to take four to five months to approve the waiver applications. Now, the average processing time is around three years. In the meantime, the plaintiffs aren’t protected from deportation and can’t obtain a work permit.
We know that this is unacceptable. That’s why we, along with our partners at Gibbs Houston Pauw, IMMpact Litigation and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, filed the class action lawsuit on behalf of this group of immigrants and countless others who are impacted by these delays.
We’ll be sure to update you on developments in the case.
Sincerely,
Kate Melloy Goettel
Legal Director of Litigation
