As the Finance Director for Team Bowman, I spend a lot of time thinking about how to make sure our movement has what it needs to in order to run smoothly. I'm always monitoring how much $$ we have to raise by specific deadlines so we can keep campaigning & organizing to keep Jamaal in Congress fighting for us — something that's even more important since our progressive bloc must push back against a new Republican majority in the House.
But so far in 2023, our fundraising is lagging behind — more than we were anticipating.
So, I crunched some numbers. If at least one out of every 10 people who read this email give $3 (or more), we'll reach our end-of-month goal to raise $8000 over email in no time.
Keeping up strong fundraising for a grassroots, people-powered campaign can be a challenge. Jamaal's decision to reject all corporate PAC and lobbyist money doesn't make fundraising any easier — but John, it's the only way we'd ever run things.
Team Bowman supporters are educators, students, service industry workers, retirees, organizers, and more. That's who Jamaal answers to and works for in Congress — not dark money interests and whoever can cut the biggest checks.
And John, as we prepare for another election in 2024 and beyond, it's inevitable we're going to face obstacles towards our movement.
