It’s Katherine Clark and I recently was sworn in as the new Democratic Whip. I wanted to send you this email and share my thoughts as we make our way through this new session together.

It certainly has been a chaotic start to the 118th Congress. In just the first week, I had to whip 15 rounds of votes for Speaker of the House - and I’m so proud that Democrats have remained united despite the Republican infighting.
However, it’s clear the next year is going to come with many challenges. Democrats are being kicked off our committees and MAGA Republicans now have more power over Congress than they may have ever had before.
It’s up to us to stand up to their extremism and make sure things are still getting done for the American people.
For me, this is about protecting our democracy and making a real difference in people’s lives.
I know this won’t be easy, but with your support, I believe we can live up to our greatest potential and there is nothing we cannot achieve if we put our minds to it.
