Dear John xxxxxx,

Last week was another busy week here in Washington thanks to several press conferences, constituent meetings, and bill introductions! We also spent a lot of the week deliberating on committee assignments. I am proud to announce that I am the Ranking Member of the Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee, formerly known as the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, of the Energy and Commerce Committee. The Chair of the subcommittee is my friend, Rep. Gus Bilirakis from Florida. Gus and I worked very closely last Congress to deliver bipartisan legislation that puts consumers first. I am looking forward to continuing our work together in the 118th Congress.

Every person should have the freedom to make their own reproductive health care decisions regardless of their income, race, where they work, what zip code they live in, or how they get their insurance. On Thursday, I was proud to reintroduce the EACH Act, which will finally repeal the Hyde Amendment. The Hyde Amendment is a racist, discriminatory policy designed to put reproductive and economic freedom out of reach for women of color and low-income women who need an abortion. By restricting Medicaid coverage of abortion, the Hyde Amendment robs those working to make ends meet of the freedom to control their lives and decisions about what is best for their families. Whether at home or abroad, abortion is health care and health care is a human right.

We are a nation of immigrants. I am so proud that people come from all over the world to live in our community. As a first-generation American myself, I participated in a press conference calling for comprehensive immigration reform. Seeking asylum in the United States is legal, but because of a provision called Title 42, the right to seek asylum in the U.S. under international law has been suspended in some cases. I am calling on President Biden to get rid of Title 42.

As you may be aware, district boundaries have shifted for the 118th Congress. To check and see if I am still your Representative, please click here. If you are in my district and need any assistance from a federal agency, whether it be a Social Security problem, an immigration case, or a postal issue, just to name a few, my office is here to help. Head to my website for further assistance and information.

On Friday, we recognized International Holocaust Remembrance Day – the 78th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, where more than a million innocent people were brutally murdered. Let us honor the memories of those who were lost by telling their stories. Never again.

Take care,

The Senate Judiciary hearing on the live ticket industry proved that Democrats and Republicans are united behind the fact that Ticketmaster is failing consumers. My colleagues and I on the Energy and Commerce Committee are ready to reign in these abusive industry practices and protect consumers.
