You might remember a statistic from last year about men named “John”:

In 2022, there were 3x more men named "John/Jon" in the U.S. Senate than there were women of color.

Actually, when John Fetterman joined the Senate this year, that number grew even higher. The Senate is now 10% “John/Jon” and 25% women.

But there’s a new stat we wanted to share that helps illustrate why Her Bold Move was created in the first place:

According to Insider, under the Republican majority, the House will have more members named “Mike” serving as committee chairs than women.

You read that right. Men named “Mike” will outnumber women 2-1 among committee chairs in the House.

Nothing against men named "Mike," but just consider what this means for women:

Committee chairs are powerful positions in our government – which means this is yet another example of the stark power imbalance between men and women in our country. This is exactly the reason we exist. We are fighting to ensure that more women can hold positions of power – to serve as a representative voice for American women in the rooms where decisions are being made.
