Dear John,
It's just one of the anniversaries
from the painful history of Brexit, but today marks the final and most
consequential: It’s been three years since the UK officially left the
EU.
Two years since the end of the
transition period, the results are in and the stats are
damning.
And today, the IMF has forecast
that the UK will be the only advanced economy that will shrink this
year, including Russia which is still under international
sanctions.
All of this before we consider the
damage to Britain’s global reputation from continued political crises
and threats to break international law.
So long as those in charge continue
to deny this reality, so long as they continue to pursue an agenda that can only deliver further chaos,
uncertainty and harm, we will be unable to meet the great challenges
we face together, from restoring our NHS to facing down Russian
aggression alongside our European allies.
But ours is a great nation and
decline does not need to be inevitable. By removing unnecessary
barriers to trade and repairing relations with our EU partners, we can
build a better future and no matter what way you voted in 2016, that’s
surely something we can all agree on.
At Best for Britain we work round
the clock to find solutions to the problems Brexit has created -
through our work with the UK Trade and Business
Commission to remove trade
barriers , through our efforts to expose and curtail the most
anti-democratic and scandalous excesses of this Vote Leave government, and
via our campaign for electoral
reform to ensure that never
again will a party wield 100% of power after receiving only 40% of the
vote.
Thank you for your support which
makes this work possible.
Best wishes,
Kim
Darroch
Chairman of Best for Britain
