John, it’s Team Shapiro here. We’re reaching out because we’re facing our first big fundraising deadline of 2023 in just a few hours, and it’s important we start the year off meeting our goal.

We are reaching out because we need your help and, in a moment, we’re going to ask you to pitch in a few dollars if you can.

But before we do that, we want to talk a bit about why this ongoing movement is worth investing in.

Winning the election was only the start. Now, the hard work has already begun moving Pennsylvania forward: lifting up our schools, preventing violence, strengthening our democracy, and building an economy that gives everyone a shot.

With far-right extremists in D.C. threatening real progress, it’s more important than ever that we have strong leadership here in states like Pennsylvania to tackle the challenges we face. Consider:

• Here in Pennsylvania, Gov. Shapiro got right to work taking executive action to open doors of opportunity for Pennsylvania workers. Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., it took nearly a week just for Republicans to pick a Speaker, and they’ve accomplished absolutely nothing since.

• Here in Pennsylvania, Gov. Shapiro signed an ethics package to prevent improper influence of his administration. Meanwhile, in D.C., Republicans signed a rules package that could gut their ethics office.

• Here in Pennsylvania, Gov. Shapiro is committed to protecting our basic civil rights. Meanwhile, in D.C., Republicans have already pushed multiple bills restricting access to abortion.

If we’re going to make progress over the long haul on issues we care about — issues like the right to choose, the right to vote, and high-quality, well-funded public schools — we need to invest in states like Pennsylvania, John, and keep working to win the hard fights.

We cannot let extremist Republicans get an edge over us in this state.

Tonight’s fundraising deadline is a big test of our ability to do exactly that — and we would be very grateful if you could help us catch up. Will you please pitch in $25 and help keep Team Shapiro going strong as we take on the tough battles ahead?
