Light Night returns on Friday and Saturday, so start planning your night to ensure you don't miss out on the amazing installations and family-friendly fun.

We've included some of the main highlights below but there's much more to discover. You'll find events and installations across the city centre on both nights - it's best to check by downloading the event app or picking up a copy of the printed event guide*. 

*Nottingham Tourism Centre* will also be open until 7pm on Friday and 5.30pm on Saturday for up to date information on Light Night, to collect an event map, or to get help downloading the official event app. 

Plus, the *Light Night Market* will be on Long Row/Smithy Row from 10am - 10pm featuring a hand-picked selection of Nottingham street food and independent traders.

The best way to plan your evening is to download the app. There is a free download for either Apple or Android.

Also included is a chance to play with AR (Augmented Reality) and get a pic with the Council House's left lion - Leo.

The app lists activities by day and time but you can also filter by categories. An interactive map will also point you in the direction of activities and installations near you and you can give feedback on what you've seen.

Old Market Square

A large-scale light sculpture exploring the perspectives of visual and auditory perception, offering a tightly synced and choreographed audio-visual journey for all ages.




Sneinton Market Square
Evanescent [ [link removed] ]

*Evanescent*
An immersive light and sound environment in the form of a bubble. This art-chitecture connects audiences with their environment and is designed to be truly inclusive.




Nottingham Contemporary
Tom Dale Company [ [link removed] ]

*Urban Explorers Sub:Version*
Tom Dale Company’s flagship annual dance project integrating professionals with youth dancers from across Nottinghamshire, working in partnership with Inspire Youth Arts. This free ticketed event is now sold out but check for walk-ups on the night.





Lister Gate
Lantern Parade [ [link removed] ]

*Lantern Parade*
City Arts presents a community lantern parade. Lovingly crafted by Nottingham residents and a range of local community groups, the beautiful, illuminated creations will cut a route through the city centre on Saturday at 7pm.

*Ode to...*
An ode to Frank Robinson, Nottingham's Xylophone Man, created by Graham Elstone and Thomas Hall. Play a giant interactive xylophone on Lister Gate where he busked and entertained for many years.




Robin Hood Statue
IIN Letters [ [link removed] ]

*Art Matters*
Artwork from Bluecoat Aspley Academy and Bluecoat Sixth Form students will be projected onto the castle walls behind the Robin Hood Statue. The exhibition, entitled Art Matters, represents young peoples’ views about identity and global issues.

Sussex Street
Fear The Light [ [link removed] ]

*Fear The Light*
A unique light installation from Michael Grubb Studio, showcasing the new tram viaduct lighting as a one-off artistic display which has been flipped on its head. Transforming from day to day public realm lighting into to an unpredictable and dramatic display, encouraging visitors to both chase and fear the light. This installation celebrates the ongoing transformation and creation of new public spaces around the Broad Marsh area.





Carrington Street
The Nectary [ [link removed] ]

*The Nectary*
The Nectary invites visitors to immerse themselves in nature and hear ‘the hum of the earth’ as they mimic a pollinating insect. Located on Carrington Street, this installation is a nod to the city's Green Heart vision for the Broad Marsh re-development.

*Reflections*
Presented by the Canal & River Trust, in partnership with Film Hub East Midlands. Join them canal side for live film projections taking a deep dive into the city's cinematic past. You can also enjoy live music, creative making and refreshments.

Nottingham City Centre is bursting with lots of culture and entertainment opportunities, many of which will also be open on Light Night.

Plus there is late opening of many of the city's stores, and food and drink hang outs.
