we try our best at No Dem Left Behind to keep things upbeat and highlight
the positive things that are taking place across our beautiful country. We
do this because so many others focus on the negatives and there is plenty
of that to showcase. In the past couple of weeks, we started our
cross-country tour meeting with folks in counties far and wide and while
our meetings were joyous and filled with smiles, we did talk about the
real crisis our country is facing.

For example, in certain Republican-controlled states it is not enough that
they have outlawed a women's right to choose, they want to take it up a
notch. Radical Republicans want to set up checkpoints across state borders
to ensure women don't travel to other states to receive life-saving
healthcare. While this is only being proposed by the most extreme
Republicans, the rest of them are so afraid of that group that they remain
silent and are willing to pass these barbaric measures. 

The other issue, as the Republican plan to use the debt ceiling as a ploy
to do the unthinkable, is Republicans want to raise the social security
age to a minimum of 70, and do the same for Medicare. In other words: for
the GOP to vote to agree on our debt, they will first try to get their
way.

They want our senior citizens to work 5 more years before they can retire
gracefully and receive the same social security they have been paying into
for decades now. They want those same Americans to be ineligible for the
Medicare that they have been promised their entire lives. If that wasn't
bad enough, they have one more knife they want to use to stab the working
class in the back and take away government-sponsored healthcare
opportunities for folks who otherwise wouldn't be able to have
opportunities to see a doctor when they get sick.

The mentality that the Republican party has embraced is one of callous
indecency. They protect the extremely rich at all costs and as far as the
rest of us, they couldn't care less what happens. This is who they are and
this is who we must defeat in 2024. 

Defeating the Republicans does not happen in the weeks leading up to an
election; it happens today, and on days like today. What we are building
is something special that we want to share with you and have you be a part
of it. Organizers across the country are being brought together under one
umbrella that we are calling Rural Outreach Coordinated Campaign or ROCC.
The idea behind ROCC is simple: we want to make sure rural voices, and
rural communities are being heard, represented, and supported. In most of
the towns we go into, the first thing they tell us is we are the first
national group that has come into their town and set up meetings.

We take that as a compliment and a badge of honor, as should you. As a
supporter of No Dem Left Behind, you make that possible.
