Washington, D.C. (January 31, 2023) – A new report from the Center for Immigration Studies highlights the top ten actions of the Biden administration’s first two years that have combined to create an historic immigration crisis.
From the termination of “Remain in Mexico” to the abuse of DHS’s limited parole authority, Biden border policies have sparked the surge in illegal crossings. But the magnet attracting the historic number of illegal immigrants also comes from Biden’s limits on immigration officers’ ability to enforce the law in the interior of the United States and the expanding access to immigration benefits.
“President Biden’s immigration policies have had a profound effect both on the border and in the interior of the United States,” stated Elizabeth Jacobs, the Center’s director of regulatory affairs and policy and author of the report. “The Biden administration’s failure to implement adequate enforcement or deterrence policies has resulted in ineffective protections for U.S. workers and an historic border crisis that continues to pose grave risks to migrants, national security, and the overall integrity of our immigration system. There is nothing ‘safe, orderly, and legal’ about mass illegal immigration.”
