Dear Mr. xxxxxx,
As I begin another busy week in Washington, I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to fight for you, Texas’ 21st Congressional district, and our country as a whole:
Congress could end the border crisis tomorrow:
The fight against the Swamp to secure our border continues.
Last week, I joined Harris Faulkner on The Faulkner Focus to talk about my plan to reclaim our Southern border, with my Border Safety and Security Act of 2023. This proposition would give border patrol agents two options: to detain or to turn away, and will actively combat fentanyl and cartels from pouring into our country. It is time to act to secure our southern border and address this problem.
On Thursday, I joined Newsmax’s Rob Schmitt to discuss the border crisis and my solution, H.R. 29, which would stop the flow of illegal immigrants and allow the Border Patrol to regain control of this crisis.
There’s been some misinformation about what the bill does floating around in the news lately; I debunk those myths here.
Putting Parents Back In Charge of Education
Last week, I introduced two education bills, giving parents the power in their kids’ education, instead of bureaucrats, politicians, or union bosses.
The Combatting Racist Teaching (CRT) Act will prohibit federal funds for schools that indoctrinate students with critical race theory. The Support Children Having Open Opportunities for Learning (SCHOOL) Act allows federal funds to follow a student regardless of whether the child is in public school, private school, or homeschool.
These acts give educational power back to the parents to make decisions about their children's education. You can read more about it here.
Fighting for American citizens in D.C.
Senator Cruz and I also introduced legislation to prohibit the government of Washington D.C. from using federal funds to register non-citizens to vote. Voting in American elections is a duty that should be reserved exclusively for citizens, and I am fighting to ensure that.
Here are some news stories about what I’ve been up to lately:
Passport resources
The State Department is encouraging passport applications and renewals during the off-peak travel season in fall or winter because demand is lower and processing is faster. Please remember to check your passport expiration date and keep in mind some countries require your passport to be valid for six months after your visit. You can find information on how to apply or renew your passport here.
USDA Wildfire and Drought Resources
The US Department of Agriculture offers several resources available to farmers and ranchers impacted by the recent wildfires and drought in Texas. We encourage you to take advantage of this federal assistance if eligible.
Resources for wildfire and drought recovery and risk management are available here and here, respectively.
