Thank you for helping us move boldly and strongly into a new decade!
Together we raised over $125,000 in our year-end fundraising campaign!
May 2020 be a year filled with hope and victories toward people power, community self-determination, and liberation!
We are truly grateful for the generosity you have shown us this past year. From attending mobilizations, to making donations, to spreading the word about an abolitionist future, each one of you has helped us sustain and grow the movement against policing and cages, and toward community self-determination and empowerment.
We're humbled and inspired by the demonstration of people power and commitment during our year end fundraising efforts. Your donations help us continue the fight to eliminate the prison industrial complex and put abolition into practice.
During these tumultuous times, we remain dedicated to building organizing and educational resources with community members and organizational partners, uplifting the voices of those who are systems-targeted, and taking concrete steps to dismantle the PIC. As an organization that is committed to fulfilling our budget through a strategic income split of 35% foundation funds and 65% individual gifts (this is you!), your donations emphasize the will of many people who recognize that community self-determination and healing are of the utmost importance.
We extend our sincerest gratitude for all you gave to CR in 2019. Here's to another powerful year and decade of abolition!
With appreciation,
Jess Heaney and Shirley Leslie
Development staff, Critical Resistance
P.S. Tax letter update: we will be sending you a 2019 tax letter acknowledging the total of all 2019 gifts in February. Thank you for your patience as we total out 2019!
ABOUT THE 2019 POSTCARD ART
This piece of art is called Padayon (Move On), created by Eduardo Sarmiento. Sarmiento is a political prisoner and a peace consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), an umbrella organization fighting for national freedom and democratic rights of the people. He was arrested by the Philippines police and military without warrant in 2009, and convicted on trumped up, politically motivated charges in 2013.
Thank you to comrades with SELDA who shared this art with us! SELDA is an organization of political prisoners and former political detainees in the Philippines.
