Hi folks -- Terri Sewell here. I wanted to take a moment to share my story with you, and I hope you’ll read it. I’m working hard in Congress for the people of Alabama because this community made me the person I am today. I’m a proud product of Alabama’s Black Belt.

I’m a 3rd generation Selmian.

My grandfather was a sharecropper.

My mother was the first Black woman elected to the Selma city council.

Her example inspired me to keep standing up for my community.

I put in the work to become the first Black woman to serve in Alabama’s congressional delegation.

Now, I’m putting in the work to amplify my community in Washington, DC.

My upbringing is the reason why I take my job seriously every single day . I’m fighting for the values that were instilled in me by my community by following the examples of those who came before me. I know where I come from, and that’s why I’m fighting.

To protect the sacred right to vote. To defend women’s reproductive rights. To invest in our hardworking families.

This is the work that I know needs to be done , and I won’t stop until it’s finished. I’m fighting hard for the people of Alabama every single day so that everyone has the tools they need to succeed. But, I need your support to beat back the GOP’s continued attacks.
