John,

Donald Trump is obsessed with cutting our earned benefits. He proposed $2.5 trillion in cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid in his presidential budget, and now his administration is attacking Social Security through a proposed rule change that would make it even harder for disabled people to access their earned benefits.

We’ve already submitted over 50,000 comments to the Trump administration to tell them to keep their hands off our Social Security benefits!

Check out Alex’s email below to learn more about Trump’s cruel plan to kick hundreds of thousands of people with disabilities off of Social Security. Then donate to Social Security Works today to double the number of comments we’ve submitted and deliver at least 100,000 comments by the January 31st deadline!

The Trump administration’s purge of disability beneficiaries, based on their blatant ideological opposition to Social Security, is cruel and will cause real harm to hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Americans.

Thank you for all you do to protect and expand Social Security.

--ALEX'S EMAIL--

John,

The Trump administration is trying to kick hundreds of thousands of disabled Americans off of Social Security. And reports are that if they’re successful with this round of harmful cuts, they’re coming back for more.

The administration claims that the proposed purge of SSDI and beneficiaries will save Social Security $2.6 billion, by paying out fewer benefits. But it will also cost the Social Security Administration $1.8 billion to perform 2.6 million additional eligibility reviews—resulting in hundreds of thousands of already-approved beneficiaries losing their life-saving Social Security benefits.

Just look at this New York Times op-ed headline:1

Another Disability Disaster in the Making

Social Security Works is organizing our allies across the country to submit official comments opposing this Trump administration rule change. We’ve already submitted over 47,000 comments.

Donate today to help us submit at least 100,000 comments by the January 31st deadline and to fight the Trump administration’s cruel cuts to Social Security.

Let’s be clear. By adding burdensome reviews to 2.6 million beneficiaries, the administration’s intent is to demotivate and demoralize people from getting the disability benefits they’ve earned.

In the 1980s, this is what President Reagan did, even kicking a Vietnam War hero off of SSDI who had war injuries including shrapnel in his heart, who Reagan himself had awarded the Medal of Honor.2

These are benefits that we’ve earned with every paycheck. And the Trump administration’s blatant ideologically motivated purge of disability beneficiaries is cruel and will cause real harm to hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Americans.

Donate to Social Security Works today to fight back and win!

Thank you for all that you do to protect and expand Social Security for current and future generations.
