?? *New Platform to Apply for Restricted-Use Data Access for Evidence-Building*

Federal statistical agencies have worked together to create a standard application process (SAP) for applying for access to confidential microdata for research with an evidence-building purpose. Applicants can now apply for access on one consolidated portal at *ResearchDataGov.org [ [link removed] ]*.

Visitors to the portal can browse a catalog of protected data assets from federal statistical agencies and units and apply from the same website. The Census Bureau’s *Federal Statistical Research Data Center (FSRDC) program [ [link removed] ]* in our Center for Enterprise Dissemination is proud to be part of this groundbreaking accomplishment.

Information about applying for access to restricted-use microdata in the FSRDCs using the SAP portal is available on the *Census Bureau’s standard application process website [ [link removed] ]*.

?? Proof of Concept for Upcoming 2020 Census Product & Webinar

On January 31, the Census Bureau will release a proof of concept for the 2020 Census Detailed Demographic and Housing Characteristics File A (Detailed DHC-A) for public review and feedback. This proof of concept will be based on 2010 Census data.

The 30-day public feedback period on the Proof of Concept will conclude on March 2. The Proof of Concept applies a new disclosure avoidance methodology to 2010 Census data. This allows a side-by-side comparison of the proposed 2020 Detailed DHC-A table specifications and Disclosure Avoidance System (DAS) algorithm parameters against the published 2010 Census tables.

A *webinar* is planned for Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET. Learn more in our data products newsletter.
