13/15 new Oversight Committee members cast doubt on the 2020 election results.
Kevin McCarthy made promises to some of the most extreme members of his party in order to become Speaker of the House. Now we’re seeing the consequences. Of the 15 new Republicans who are joining me on the House Oversight Committee, 13 have cast serious doubt about President Biden’s 2020 win.
My new committee members include Marjorie Taylor Greene, Paul Gosar, and Lauren Boebert.
I’ve always believed the Oversight Committee should be used to hold those with power to account, regardless of their politics. But Republicans are already prioritizing clips for Fox News.
We’d better serve the American people by using this committee to hold big corporations accountable for rising prices. Or by investigating health insurance companies who have harmed patients. Or by pushing gun manufacturers to implement safety features.
I’m a proud progressive Democrat, but I’ll work with anyone, including Republicans, to deliver for the American people. I implore my colleagues to spend our time on the Oversight Committee rooting out real corruption and curbing the power of global corporations. That’s the critical work that benefits every single American.
