Just last week would have been the 50th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a landmark decision that protected Americans’ personal healthcare choices from political intervention. It’s disheartening to see, five decades later, not only is Roe gone but the GOP is continuing to turn the clock back and threaten the lives of pregnant Americans.

Mary Gay Scanlon for Congress

January has been a somber month for many of us.

I returned to Washington to get to work, only to be met with a majority party without a leader. Then we endured Kevin McCarthy’s embarrassing 4-day popularity contest for the Speakership, where he made numerous concessions to his party’s extremists that threaten the safety and security of our country.

Even after Congress was finally sworn in, in one of their first votes on the floor, the GOP attacked IRS funding that would investigate ultra-wealthy tax-cheats. Then, what was even worse: Republicans voted in favor of more extreme anti-abortion measures.

It’s clear by these deeply unpopular votes that Republicans have no interest in the will of the people. Democrats have to start the path toward taking back the House now, help us do it by donating before tomorrow’s end-of-month deadline.

It’s going to take all of us to keep the GOP accountable and defend our rights at every level — I want you to know I am committed to that work and I hope you’re with me.

Help me make sure we have the resources to take on anti-abortion candidates and restore a majority that fights for our rights, not against them. Donate today ahead of our first end-of-month deadline tomorrow.

With gratitude,

Mary Gay
