Urgent and decisive political leadership, such as a Green New Deal, is needed to address this crisis and turn it into an opportunity to rebuild our infrastructure, create millions of well-paying jobs, and address social injustice. The European Union has developed an ambitious agenda at home and is pressing for stronger international action. In the United States, governors, mayors, businesses, universities, activists, and communities across the country are leading the way with innovative policies and ideas. On both sides of the Atlantic, political leaders are connecting. We must learn from these leaders, both domestically and internationally, to take action as quickly as possible and build a just and 100 percent clean future.
