Last year, the U.S.-based mining company Aura Minerals completed destruction of a 200-year-old community cemetery belonging to the Indigenous Mayan Chortí community of Azacualpa in Honduras.

The ongoing expansion of the Aura Minerals’ gold mine threatens to forcibly displace the community of Azacualpa and contaminate vital water sources for nearby communities, all while criminalizing Indigenous community defenders.

Despite well-documented human rights violations, U.S.-based refineries continue to buy gold from this mining project.

Webinar
On Wednesday, February 1 at 5:30pm CST/ 6:30pm EST, join us to hear from the Azacualpa mining resistance and learn about actions you can take to participate in the struggle against destructive extractive projects in Honduras.
