RPA Weekly Recap | January 30, 2023

This past week Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, shown here with sponsors Senator Scott Flippo (R-Mountain Home) and Representative Jack Fortner (R-Yellville), signed House Bill 1023, which requires flags purchased with public funds be made and manufactured here in the United States. The Governor also signed House Concurrent Resolution 1005 by Representative Mary Bentley (R-Perryville) and Senator Gary Stubblefield (R-Branch) to proclaim Religious Freedom Day in Arkansas.

This past week was the annual Republican National Committee (RNC) Winter Meeting. In its election for Chairman of the RNC, all three voting members of the Arkansas delegation cast their votes in support of a change in leadership consistent with the RPA Executive Committee's resolution attached here. Ronna McDaniel was re-elected Chairman with 111 of the 168 votes possible, while Harmeet Dhillon and Mike Lindell received 51 votes and 4 votes respectively. The RNC also passed a series of resolutions, including a resolution to hold President Biden accountable for the border crisis, opposition to ranked choice voting, and opposing all forms of antisemitism.
