Gov. Reynolds Joins 24 Governors in Joint Letter to Biden in Opposition of Revised WOTUS Definition

DES MOINES – Today, Gov. Reynolds and 24 other governors sent a joint letter to President Joe Biden voicing their opposition to a new rule regarding the Clean Water Act (CWA) and the revised definition of “Water of the United States” (WOTUS).

The WOTUS definition has been under scrutiny for nearly twenty years, and your Administration’s rule only further complicates the efforts to create certainty under the CWA for rural communities. The problem is exacerbated by the pending Supreme Court ruling.

To change the rule multiple times in six months is an inefficient and wasteful use of State and federal resources and will impose an unnecessary strain on farmers, builders, and every other impacted sector of the American economy.”

The governors that signed onto the letter include: Brad Little, Idaho; Kay Ivey, Alabama; Mike Dunleavy, Alaska; Sarah Sanders, Arkansas; Ron DeSantis, Florida; Brian Kemp, Georgia; Eric Holcomb, Indiana; Tate Reeves, Mississippi; Mike Parson, Missouri; Greg Gianforte, Montana; Jim Pillen, Nebraska; Joe Lombardo, Nevada; Chris Sununu, New Hampshire; Doug Burgum, North Dakota; Mike DeWine, Ohio; Kevin Stitt, Oklahoma; Henry McMaster, South Carolina; Kristi Noem, South Dakota; Bill Lee, Tennessee; Greg Abbott, Texas; Spencer Cox, Utah; Glenn Youngkin, Virginia; Jim Justice, West Virginia; Mark Gordon, Wyoming.
