To the surprise of no one, the first month of Republican control in the House has been riddled with chaos and dysfunction. It took FIFTEEN attempts for Kevin McCarthy to become speaker, and his new position came at the cost of empowering some of the most far-right members in the Republican conference.

They wasted no time pushing their extremist agenda. Their first vote was to reopen tax loopholes for the wealthiest one percent and increase our national deficit by over $100 BILLION. Then, they forced votes on TWO anti-abortion bills. And now, they’re threatening to hold the entire economy hostage to gut Social Security and Medicare – even if it means forcing an economic crisis by allowing the U.S. to default on our debt for the first time in history.

This is just the beginning, team. The GOP has clearly learned nothing from its failure in the 2022 midterm elections. If we want to continue building on the progress we made over the past two years, Democrats MUST take back the House in 2024.

With the GOP majority razor-thin, control of the chamber could come down to just a handful of races – so we need to make sure we’re ready to keep this district blue and help other Democrats.
