1) Abolish The Michigan Income Tax
The 15-second video here could turn out to be historic.

Jonathan Lindsey, a newly elected state Senate member and former special forces member of the U.S. military, introduced a bill on the floor of the legislature in Lansing to abolish the state income tax. This happened on one of his first days in office.

You could practically hear the Dems and the special interests gasp in horror.

One Democrat scoffed: How will Michigan pay its bills?

Well, gee, nine states have no income tax and are doing quite well. Ask them. And nobody’s leaving those states like they are fleeing Michigan.

Did we mention Mr. Lindsey is the son-in-law of CTUP cofounder and economist extraordinaire Arthur Laffer?

2) Joe Biden: Big Oil’s Best Friend?
The Left is indignant about this headline:

They scream that we need a windfall profits tax.

No. We need a sensible America First energy policy. When Biden stopped permitting and enacted draconian climate change regulations with prohibitions on new drilling, he drove up the price of oil from existing wells - causing higher gas prices and benefitting…Chevron. (And Putin and OPEC.)

3) Will Congress Make Feds Show Up To Work?
This is one of the greatest scandals of all time. Many tens of thousands of federal employees have been getting a full-time paycheck from Uncle Sam (meaning all of us) without showing up for work for THREE years. They don’t call it Club Fed for nothing.

It’s not fair to say that they haven’t worked at all. We personally know some federal employees who have diligently worked four or five hours a day.

The Covid scare ended two and a half years ago and most private businesses have demanded their employees show up for work or find a new employer.

So now Congress will FINALLY vote to require federal employees to get back on the job. (This is In addition to finally voting on ending another travesty, the never-ending COVID national emergency.)

House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer’s bill would require all federal agencies to reinstitute their telework policies as they existed on December 31, 2019, with expanded remote work only for authorized projects.

Comer cleverly named this bill the “Stopping Home Office Work’s Unproductive Problems Act of 2023” or the “SHOW UP Act of 2023.”

The rest of America has been back to work for years now. We will let you know if the Dems in Congress require Fed bureaucrats to go back to work.

Incidentally, it’s interesting that few people are even aware that federal workers aren’t on the job. Hmmm. Maybe we could cut the bureaucracy in half and nobody would notice.

4) Rep. Jim Jordan Is A Hero
One of the most positive results of Republicans winning control of the House is that Jim Jordan of Ohio is now the Judiciary Committee chairman. Jordan is a principled free-market conservative who will hold Biden administration appointees accountable.

We were thrilled by the news today that he has bypassed Ken Buck of Colorado in favor of Rep. Thomas Massie to chair the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust Subcommittee. ([link removed]) Massie is a libertarian-leaning free marketeer and member of the House Freedom Caucus who wants to rein in big government.

Buck, on the other hand, has been a major supporter of the Biden Justice Department’s witch hunt lawsuit against Google and other American firms. Last week he fired off a press release praising the Biden regulators for “deciding to crack down on Google’s digital advertisement monopoly. All Americans should support breaking up Google’s massive ad-tech monopoly."

The idea that any one firm could gain a monopoly on collecting advertising revenues in a 21st-century economy with tens of thousands of outlets for placing ads including newspapers, TV, radio, websites, search engines, podcasts, etc. strikes us fairly preposterous.

If Ken Buck wants to break up evil monopolies, we would suggest he start with the public schools.
