The Art of Hospitality
Come and join The Art of Hospitality Conference, April 23-24 at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, KS, where you will learn principles and tools key to becoming an outwardly focused church, seeking to extend the welcome of Jesus Christ to the unchurched in your community. Featured Speakers, Senior Director Yvonne Gentile and Executive Director Debi Nixon, co-authors of The Art of Hospitality (released by Abingdon Press Spring 2020), will lead participants through the program, complete with techniques and strategic planning to help you apply the concepts to your ministry context. The Art of Hospitality will effectively change how you do church, leaving your guests surprised, delighted, and eager to return. Pastors, staff and volunteers engaged in the ministry of welcome, hospitality, visitor care, outreach, connections or membership are all encouraged to attend. Registration is limited. Mission Volunteers
Mission Volunteers are individuals or couples (ages 18 and up), who seek long-term partnerships with communities around the world. Mission Volunteer opportunities are diverse and range from working with refugees, children and youth, serving as a teacher, pastor, camp director or health care professional. The length of service ranges from two months to more than two years.
Current Mission Volunteer placement openings with immediate need:
- Reelfoot Rural Ministries- Obion, TN: Reelfoot Rural Ministries is seeking a Community Services Assistant to be a liaison for volunteers, work with the back to school program, food bank and toy store ministry. In the summer the Community Services Assistant will focus on home rehab and camp ministry.
- Asian Rural Institute (ARI) – Japan: ARI is seeking a Training Program Volunteer who will serve as part of ARI's diverse and vibrant community to help support their training program. Work assignments include livestock, crops and vegetables, office, meal service, and maintenance.
