Housing El Dorado News

Increment Weather Shelter

It certainly has been cold and wet this winter. Many of our homeless neighbors have received shelter at the Inclement Weather Shelter (IWS) at Scout Hall, Benham Park, Placerville.

The IWS is a collaborative program with Housing El Dorado, Upper Room Dining Hall, the City of Placerville and the County of El Dorado.

On request from the County, the Shelter has been extended for 2 more weeks until mid February.

Thanks to all of our volunteers, we ask that you please find some time for these last 2 weeks while the weather is still cold and wet. Click here to Volunteer.

Internet Speed Test - Complete today

El Dorado County is conducting a speed test campaign right now. We've been asked to spread the word.

Link is here: Internet Speed Test (edcgov.us)

The results from the Internet Speed Test will help:

  • Identify areas of El Dorado County where homes and businesses lack high-speed internet connection
  • Discover which households do not have an internet connection and the reasons why
  • Direct funds toward providing reliable broadband access throughout the Count

EDC residents and businesses are kindly requested to take the speed test and ask your friends and neighbors to take the speed test(takes 1 to 2 minutes to complete).

Club Information - Get Involved

The United Democrats mourn the loss of our longtime member and former Vice President, Dick Kerr, who passed away at the age of 91 on December 20th. Dick and his wife Betsy have been very active in our club and the local Democratic Party since they moved up here. Dick was also a volunteer for the El Dorado County Library.

The Club is starting to plan for this year’s County Fair Booth. Staffing will be needed from June 15 – 18, 2023.

We are also raising funds to pay for the Cash Prizes and Administration Costs of this year’s Student Essay Contest.
