JohnHere at Animal Wellness Action, we take on ambitious and groundbreaking fights on behalf of animals —
and, in the end, we prevail.
Just more than a month ago, we helped pass animal testing legislation to save tens of thousands of beagles and other animals suffering in laboratories, shut down roadside menageries that are harming big cats, and put cockfighters in prison and saw their fighting pits torn down.
We have a team that knows how to bring pressure and to drive changes that animals desperately need. When you support the Center, you are equipping us not only to fight, but to win.
Right now, we’re spearheading a campaign to convince Nike, Adidas, and other athletic shoe retailers to stop sourcing skins from kangaroos shot in their native habitats in Australia.
The body count is staggering. Every year, 2 million kangaroos are slaughtered, and their skins are made into soccer cleats for big-brand shoe companies. That’s the case even though they already make most of their shoes from fabrics not made from kangaroos or any other animals.
That is a disgrace. And it’s so unnecessary.
Will you join our Kangaroos Are Not Shoes campaign?
You can write to your federal and state lawmakers on the topic.
And you can help us finance this campaign. We are working on a raft of maneuvers – from protests at Nike flagship stores in major cities throughout the U.S., to lawsuits to enforce California’s ban on the trade in kangaroo parts, to new state and federal bills to bar Nike from selling kangaroo-skin shoes.
Please consider supporting this campaign to stop the world’s biggest commercial slaughter of native wildlife.
We can do better than this as a society. And Nike and Adidas can do better as corporations that talk a good game of social responsibility.
Thank you for your support!
