Frimley Park Hospital: It was great to catch-up once again with the Chief Executive of Frimley Health NHS Trust at the beginning of the month to discuss how the Hospital has been dealing with the additional pressures which arise throughout the winter period, as well as the progress being made following the introduction of the new Electronic Patient Record system. Since the meeting, I have also written again to the Health Secretary to press for an update on the Hospital's application to the New Hospital Programme, and I am hoping for positive news soon.
Mytchett Park Flooding: Following ongoing reports of flooding at Mytchett Park, I wrote to Surrey County Council and Surrey Heath Borough Council to ask that they do all they can to alleviate the problems being experienced by families living at the park. I understand that the Council have since visited the site to undertake temporary works to resolve some of the immediate issues, and I will be following up to monitor the long-term solutions the Council will be taking alongside the landowner.
Frimley Green Pre-school: I very much enjoyed visiting Frimley Green Pre-school on 13 January and discussing what further support the Government can offer to the sector. The staff are doing such a fabulous job, and it was lovely to see the children having so much fun.
Esso Balmoral Drive works: Following my visit to Frimley Green Pre-school, I joined Councillor Stuart Black and representatives from Esso on Balmoral Drive to discuss the road closure outside the school caused by the pipeline works. I was grateful to Esso for listening to concerns and requests for improvements to the local temporary signage during the works.
Lakeside School: I was very grateful to Head Teacher Samantha Armstrong of Lakeside School for a wonderful tour. It was also a pleasure meeting the Stand-Up Squad, a group of students from Years 4, 5 & 6 who supervise and mentor the younger pupils during lunchtime - a brilliant initiative.
RMA Service Families: Further to my meeting in December, it was really helpful to have another catch-up with several RMA service families in Camberley earlier this month. We discussed their ongoing accommodation issues, and I will continue to keep in close contact with the Minister for Defence Procurement to ensure that these service families are receiving all the support they rightly deserve and need.
Local Rental Market: I was very grateful to Mary Luff, Director of Camberley letting agents, Luff Associates, for taking the time to meet me in Windlesham this month to update me on some of the issues she has been observing in the local rental market.
School Transport Update: Further to my Facebook post in October regarding Surrey County Council's proposed walking route for pupils from Lightwater to Collingwood College, I have since received more news from Surrey County Council. I am so pleased that the Council have reconsidered their position, and you can read the latest update here ([link removed]) . My huge thanks go to Cllr Rebecca Jennings Evans for her hard work on this.
