Trump Administration Moves To Protect Religious Freedom and Prayer

Yesterday, on National Religious Freedom Day, President Trump’s administration announced a series of religious freedom protections with updates to the U.S. Department of Education’s Guidelines on prayer in public schools as well as 9 other rules pertaining to religious organizations. The new guidance makes it clear that students can read the Bible or pray at school, organize prayer groups, and express their religious beliefs in their assignments.

President Trump and his administration have set the standard when it comes to protecting religious freedom, and we thank them for their leadership. These important protections for school students and religious organizations push back against the growing tide of religious discrimination seen in Texas and across the nation.

SB 22 Delivers Another Victory Against Planned Parenthood

From blocking Planned Parenthood's radical sex education in Austin ISD, to restricting government contracts and funding with abortion providers, SB 22, a new pro-life law passed in 2019, has been the bill that keeps on giving. It has recently been reported that state employees were allowed to donate a portion of their paychecks directly to Planned Parenthood through a program called the State Employee Charitable Campaign.

The program would automatically deduct an amount, set by the employee, from their pay and donate it to the organization of their choosing. Planned Parenthood has said they were receiving roughly $180,000 a year through this program. Thanks to a new opinion from Attorney General Ken Paxton, because state employees are paid by your tax dollars, these donations are now illegal because of SB 22. We look forward to continuing to use SB 22 to protect life and keep abortion providers far away from our children and tax dollars.
