Hi John,

On Saturday afternoon, Maine Republicans voted to oust longtime GOP Chair Demi Kouzounas. Instead, the GOP State Committee elected former legislator Joel Stetkis of Cannan. Here are 4 facts you should know about the Maine GOP’s incoming chair:

1.
He
spread
misinformation
during
the
pandemic
,
making
false
statements
about
the
health
risks
of
COVID
vaccines
2.
Opposed
legislation
to
help
working
Mainers
and
fought
to
kill
a
proposal
that
would
increase
the
state’s
minimum
wage
3.
Posted
conspiracy
theories
about
the
January
6th
insurrection
,
including
falsely
claiming
that
anti-fascist
activists
were
responsible
for
the
violence
during
at
the
capitol
4.
Even
former
Governor
Paul
LePage
told
State
Committee
members
that
Stetkis
is
too
extreme
to
lead
the
Maine
GOP

We need to keep Stetkis’ extreme politics out of Maine. Will you support our early organizing efforts to recruit candidates and get a head start in upcoming elections? [[link removed]]

Whenever given the opportunity, time and time again, the Maine GOP has embraced MAGA Republicans and radical, out-of-touch politicians. If the GOP’s extreme shift in leadership gives us any indication of the strategies they’ll pursue future elections, we’ll need to be ready to combat lies and misinformation at every step. Your support [[link removed]] today helps us build the infrastructure to win in 2023, 2024, and beyond.

Best,
The Maine Dems
