FIRST, polls tightened and GOP spending skyrocketed in the final days of the campaign. Pundits doubted whether we could win.

As a result, we made aggressive investments in additional advertising to ensure that we could win. We hoped that we would be able to increase our fundraising to keep up with the growing onslaught of last-ditch spending by Republicans.

We now have a hole to fill to get those last bills paid.
