Hi John, 20 years ago today was a BIG day in the fight against HIV/AIDS, marking the announcement of PEPFAR (The US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief). Over the past two decades, US leadership in this fight has helped save a remarkable 25 million lives. In 2003, HIV/AIDS was a death sentence to most people in the hardest hit countries. By providing access to life-saving treatment and testing, PEPFAR brought hope and has empowered people to live healthy and productive lives. |

But that doesn’t mean we can sit on our heels. AIDS is still a crisis, claiming almost 2,000 lives per day. If you agree that we must ensure that PEPFAR gets the support it needs to end HIV/AIDS, join us! Over the next few months, we’ll be in contact with more opportunities to send letters and emails to elected officials, and engage on social media to ensure the fight against HIV/AIDS continues. In solidarity, Kelli Meyer, ONE.org PS: Want to learn more about the moment PEPFAR was launched? Check out our blog. |
