Help us fight to save our bees.

Dear John,

Thanks to harmful chemicals and growing climate shocks, bees are dying at
unprecedented rates. And the federal government is doing almost nothing about
it. Which is why we are doing all we can to protect environments where
pollinators can flourish… but we can’t do this alone. We’re the Chesapeake
Climate Action Network/Action Fund — and we need you!

Help push Congress to ban bee-killing pesticides while fighting climate change.
Donate $17 or more by midnight!

Pollinators are responsible for one in every three bites of food we eat. But
widespread use of pesticides are killing bees in droves and wreaking havoc on
our food systems. Meanwhile, big pesticide companies are spending millions of
dollars to influence legislators to look the other way.

With your help, we are pressuring the US House Select Committee on the Climate
Crisis to combat bee-colony collapse. Thousands of activists have signed our
letter demanding incentives — and mandates — for more organic farming. This
dramatically reduces climate emissions while avoiding bee-killing chemicals.

Donate $17 or more by midnight to help us meet our goal to protect bees. We
cannot stand by while big industries destroy our pollinators, and the plants we
rely on. Help CCAN Action Fund fight bee poisoning and climate shocks through
organic farming and clean energy.

Pollinators are essential for the very food that keeps us alive and yet they are
facing attacks on multiple fronts. Last winter beekeepers experienced their
biggest beehive loss on record. To date half of all farmed honeybee hives have
been decimated. Wild pollinators are also under threat and are reported to be
down by over 40 percent! Scientists are calling this an ecological Armageddon.

But pesticide use is not the only reason bee populations are in steep decline.
Global temperature rise is adding undue stress to plant life, causing plants to
flower out of season and confusing pollinators. These sustained seasonal
disruptions are increasing the incidences of bee die-off, and may ultimately
lead to reproductive failure of many plant species.

What's more, scientists report that as bees and other pollinators abandon
habitats ravaged by fires, excessive heat and drought, they are having trouble
moving their ranges to cooler and higher regions — further reducing their habitat and adding to their decline.

The link between a warming planet and bee decline couldn’t be more clear! We
know that. Donate $17 or more by midnight to help us fight back.

Big Industry greed and government inaction are killing bees and threatening our
food sources. We are doing everything we can to tackle this crisis. We need you
to join our fight. Together we can save our pollinators our plants and our planet.

Standing with you,

Mike Tidwell

CCAN Action Fund is the grassroots arm of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network.
The mission of the CCAN Action Fund is to effect change in public policy at
local, state and national levels to directly address the threat of global
warming. Through voter education, lobbying and participation in the electoral
process, we seek to move our country into a leadership position on the most
urgent global issue of our time — the climate crisis.
