Global financial crisis. That will be the result of the Republicans’ inability to put the needs of the American people ahead of their own political agendas.

If we fail to raise the debt ceiling – cleanly, without cuts to essential programs – everyday Americans could face stark consequences. Borrowing costs would increase, we could fail to make payments to Social Security recipients and to our military members and veterans, and all of this would cause long term damage to our economy.
