LGBTQ Stories You Should Know About
New Year, New Endorsements
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: for the LGBTQ community, there is no such thing as an ‘off’ year! [[link removed]] That’s why we’re already gearing up for another Rainbow Wave. On Thursday, we endorsed 26 more out LGBTQ leaders [[link removed]] ready to stand up and fight tooth and nail for our community.
Nick Hellyar [[link removed]] and Mario Castillo [[link removed]] , running for Houston City Council, were named Spotlight candidates. For the first time in over two decades, Houston is at risk of losing LGBTQ representation [[link removed]] in city government.
Rue Landau [[link removed]] , another Spotlight candidate, would be the first out LGBTQ person ever elected to the Philadelphia City Council. Philadelphia is the only major U.S. city left to have never elected an out LGBTQ person to body! [[link removed]]

Stephanie Wade’s Opponent Caught Lying and Scheming
The race for Seal Beach City Council is heating up! Victory Fund candidate Stephanie Wade , who would be the first trans person ever elected in Orange County history [[link removed]] , is sounding the alarm about her opponent’s alleged lies – from major discrepancies in work history to shrouds of doubt about whether her opponent even lives in the district. Ring a bell? Click here to read the full article in the Bay Area Reporter . [[link removed]]
Catch up quick: Stephanie is a Marine veteran, former teacher and community organizer. Check out photos from last week’s Long Beach Women’s March where she spoke at a rally commemorating what would have been the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade . [[link removed]]
Tucker Carlson Doesn’t Like Lori Lightfoot. That’s a Good Thing.
This week, Tucker Carlson announced his favorite candidate in the Chicago mayoral race. Surprise – it’s not Mayor Lori Lightfoot , who’s invested heavily in affordable housing [[link removed]] , tackled violent crime [[link removed]] , and protected Chicago’s vibrant LGBTQ community [[link removed]] . No, Tucker prefers someone who said police should hunt people “down like rabbits.” [[link removed]] The choice for us is clear, which is why Mayor Lightfoot was one of our first endorsement of the 2023 cycle! Abigail Salisbury’s Unparalleled Endorsement Game
With a handful of special elections currently happening, the future of the Pennsylvania state House hangs in the balance. Victory Fund candidate Abigail Salisbury could be the one who determines whether the state House remain pro-equality and pro-choice [[link removed]] or if it falls into the hands of bigots. The good news is that she is raking in the endorsements. In the past week alone, she’s been endorsed by Clean Water Action [[link removed]] , EMILY’s List [[link removed]] , the Human Rights Campaign [[link removed]] , AFL-CIO [[link removed]] , and last but certainly not least, LGBTQ Victory Fund [[link removed]] ! Click here to meet Abigail and learn why she’s the right choice for District 34. [[link removed]]
