Fight for $15

John,
How is it that companies are always finding ways to take advantage of us hard workers? I had to pay for ServSafe's food safety training every three years, just so I could keep my job at Carl's Jr. I had no idea that paying for this training was helping to fund the same organization that is fighting against me.
Last week, an investigation revealed that restaurant workers like me have unknowingly been funding the National Restaurant Association (NRA), an organization working to kill pro-worker policies like minimum wage increases, health benefits, and more. Outraged? Join me in demanding unions for all >> [[link removed]]
Here's how their scheme works:
- In 2007, the NRA bought ServSafe, an online food safety training company.
- It then lobbied states to require restaurant workers in states like California, Illinois, Florida, and Texas to take those trainings.
- 3.6 million workers paid out of pocket for these trainings, providing approximately $25 million to the NRA -- more than enough to fund all of its lobbying costs.
We've always known that shady corporations and lobbying groups work hand-in-hand -- that's how they were able to fund a referendum against a fast-food workers' council in California. I'm fed up with their corporate greed. That's why I'm on STRIKE today.
My money goes towards providing for my family. I shouldn't be bankrolling the NRA's anti-worker lobbyists. It's disgusting that these sneaky organizations have found a way to keep us down and take our hard-earned money. If we're going to stand up against billion dollar corporations, we need real legislative solutions -- and we need unions for ALL.
The only way to stop them is for ALL of us workers to unite in our demands for change and real worker justice. That's why we need unions for all. Sign on now >> [[link removed]]
