Friend, I am excited to announce that I was selected to join the House Select Committee on China this week. This is the first bipartisan select committee dedicated to crafting meaningful policy solutions to address the widespread threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). From reshoring manufacturing jobs and supply chains, to stopping the CCP’s military aggression, and preventing China from purchasing more U.S. agricultural land – our committee will produce the policy blueprint to address these issues and ensure the U.S. is competing to win our cold war with China. We must take on China – not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans, and I’m honored to serve on the bipartisan committee that will do so. I look forward to serving on this important committee and ensuring that the future is defined by American values and principles, not China's authoritarianism. As this crisis rages on, the Biden Administration refuses to lift a finger to end the surge of illegal immigration, stop the cartels, or prevent illicit drugs from pouring into our communities. In fact, following recent meetings with Mexican leaders, President Biden committed to advancing gender equity instead of working to advance policies to finally secure our border. The Biden Administration has cut our Border Patrol agents off at the knees when we need to be cutting off the cartels and stopping them from poisoning Americans with fentanyl. Watch my interview HERE.  Touring Youngblut Ag I enjoyed being back in Tama County at Youngblut Ag to discuss the upcoming Farm Bill and the importance of pushing back against WOTUS regulations. Pete Youngblut started this business because he was passionate about ensuring farmers have the tools and equipment they need to run their operations. Happy to see this homegrown business flourishing! Brooklyn Economic Development Meeting It was exciting to hear about the new projects coming to Poweshiek County at the Brooklyn Economic Development meeting this week, including a new child care center! I’ll continue advocating for common sense policies that will support working families & our rural economies in Congress. Main Street Bakery and Cafe On Monday, I visited Main Street Bakery and Cafe in Benton County. We met with the owner, Kassie, who built this business from the ground up and told me about the impacts of inflation, regulatory concerns, and staffing shortages. I also got to chat with folks who came in for their afternoon coffee & brought home some goodies for the boys. Iowa Corn Growers I caught up with members of the Iowa Corn Growers Association while they were in DC this week. We will continue working together to expand the use of biofuels nationwide and promote Iowa’s homegrown, clean energy solution.
