Good afternoon, friends, advocates and voters.

We hope this edition of the New Pennsylvania Project eBlast finds you well.

There’s three special elections taking place on Tuesday, February 7 in three Allegheny County districts, representing more than 200,000 Pennsylvanians. If you live in one of the three House districts including; HD32 (formerly represented by Anthony DeLuca, deceased), HD34 (formerly represented by Congresswoman Summer Lee) and HD35 (formerly represented by Lt. Governor Austin Davis) we encourage you to cast your vote on Election Day or before with a vote by mail ballot.

Control of the House and who has the constitutional authority to the Speaker’s gavel will be determined by the three special elections in parts of Allegheny. To find out if you live in the 32nd, 34th or 35th district, or to check your registration status click here.

50 Years after Roe v. Wade, State Courts Are the Last Line of Defense for Abortion in Pennsylvania (Bucks County Beacon)

“The sad reality is that regular Pennsylvanians can no longer depend on the federal judiciary to protect them. Instead, we must turn to our own state courts, now transformed into the last line of defense for abortion access and all sorts of other fundamental rights and freedoms, including our freedom to vote. But if we really want our courts to do their job in protecting us, we must be willing to stand up to defend our courts. And the best way to do that right now is to make our voices heard in the Commonwealth’s judicial elections in November.”
