Dear A.,
This afternoon, we once again saw the devastating reality that Israelis are forced to confront.
As Shabbat was just beginning, and as International Holocaust Remembrance Day was coming to a close, a terrorist shot at worshipers at a synagogue in Jerusalem.
Initial reports

indicate at least eight people were killed and more were injured.
This deadly attack came a day after the IDF neutralized a terrorist cell in the West Bank plotting attacks against Israelis and terrorists in Gaza launched rockets into Israel.
While the details around this latest attack are still coming in, it serves as a potent reminder of the real threats that Israelis face and the importance of our work to ensure America always stands by Israel’s side.
Tonight, we join those in Israel mourning the loss of life and praying for the recovery of the injured in this terrorist attack.
Sincerely,
Jake Braunstein
Director of Policy Communications
Today, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we join leaders in America, in Israel and around the world in remembering the six million Jews and other victims murdered during the Holocaust. We must all ensure that such a tragedy is never again allowed to take place.

launched a large-scale joint military exercise in Israel and the eastern Mediterranean Sea, named

Juniper Oak .
Why it matters: This was the largest ever U.S.-Israel military exercise.
-
The exercise comes as the U.S. and Israel look to make clear to Iran the seriousness of their commitment not to allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons.
The bottom line: U.S.-Israel defense and intelligence cooperation helps secure Americans at home, better prepare our troops, and prevent attacks against Americans and our allies abroad.
Below are some of the incredible photos from Juniper Oak:

The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
