Dear Colleague,

It saddens me to report that the head of one of the most prestigious human rights groups just dismissed the humanity of the unborn child as merely “philosophical,” not worth debating. Such harshness toward the most vulnerable human beings by one meant to champion them still stuns me.

One member of the U.S. Congress, a physician no less, is urging the Trump administration to see too many children in the world as a threat to U.S. national security. “How can there be too many children?” Mother Teresa once asked, “That is like saying there are too many flowers.” Stefano Gennarini, J.D. reports.

Yet there is good news this week! The U.S. gathered 35 countries at Blair House in Washington, declared there is “no international right to abortion,” and there is an “international right to life.” Secretary of HHS Azar vowed to grow the coalition this year and drown out the “constant drumbeat in the halls of the United Nations and the WHO to normalize” abortion-related terms and policies traipsing about as women’s health. Stay tuned.

Yours sincerely,

Susan Yoshihara, Ph.D.
