Hi John,

My friend Edna is in the hospital. She is the first pig DxE ever rescued, back in 2016, from a Farmer John’s factory farm owned by Smithfield. I carried her out in my arms and watched her learn to run outside. Today, Edna can barely walk because of a painful infection in two of her feet that is eating away at her bone. We’re not sure if the infection is treatable, but her family at Happy Hen Animal Sanctuary is asking for our help to give Edna the best chance at beating this.

Donate today to help give Edna a fighting chance

I visited Edna at the hospital last night and despite the pain in her feet, she was so happy to see me, especially when I gave her some bananas, which she ate whole. I know she’s scared and doesn’t like being away from home, but she also knows that we are trying to help her.

What she doesn’t know is how her story inspired the movement -- and how many people around the world are rooting for her to make it. The animals we rescue are at the heart of the DxE network. They teach us so much and give us hope for the future we can create. We have to take care of Edna the way every animal deserves. You can chip in or share her fundraiser here, and if you’re a spiritual person, please send good thoughts and prayers.
