Their Marriage Had Endured so Much. Was This the Last Straw?
|
|
It was one of those trips that brings couples together – a getaway to celebrate 15 years of marriage and to forget the weight of the last few years. A chance for Erik and Kelley to put behind them the bad loans, the failed real estate investments and the bankruptcy. This was a chance to escape across the country, just the two of them, and to stop stressing about Luke.
But Kelley couldn’t stop worrying about their son back home. “Erik and I had a huge fight in San Francisco,” she recalls.
When they landed back in South Carolina, Luke had red spots all over his legs. The ER doctors delivered the news: cancer. |

Leading Your Child to Christ
No maps. No GPS. Few street signs. Those are three important reasons why I don’t drive in developing countries. I’d get lost. Raising our kids to follow Christ is a lot like trying to navigate in an under-developed country – there is no parenting map, no spiritual GPS. We head in the direction that seems best, trying to find our way by trial and error.
But we don’t need to feel lost. As we journey through each stage of our children’s development, we can point them toward spiritual markers that will help them find true faith – becoming vibrant followers of Christ. |
