Former President Barack Obama is right: Some of the most influential and
pivotal decisions that affect our day-to-day lives aren’t decided by
Congress or the President, but by local and state legislators.

[ [link removed] ][IMG]
[ [link removed] ]That’s why we’re asking if you can donate as little as $3 directly to 3
Democratic scientists running in crucial races that are just WEEKS out
from their elections.

[ [link removed] ]In a moment we’ll tell you more about Cassie Armstrong, Chris Hansen,
and Dr. Marianne Lalonde and why your support will be critical in these
races in Kentucky, Colorado, and Illinois.

The reason grassroots support is so critical in these races is because a
local race or race for a key state legislative seat can cost 1/10th or
even 1/100th of the cost of a single competitive Congressional race.

So your support goes exponentially further at the state and local level
(and while key Senate candidates can raise millions in the span of one
day, a lot of that support never makes it to downballot folks like the
three we’re featuring today).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

[ Cassie ]Cassie ArmstrongCassie Armstrong (KY Senate District 19) – Cassie is a
public health expert and Louisville council member who is running in one
of the first and most important special elections of the year on February
21.

Republicans control both the State House and State Senate, using their
majority to implement a total abortion ban in the state. That’s why it’s
never been more important to elect a proud pro-choice woman with a public
health background to the State Senate next month.

Cassie experienced poverty growing up and has worked tirelessly to
represent survivors of domestic violence in Kentucky and created programs
to provide assistance to low-income and rural women who experience
violence. With your help, we’ll win this special election and send a
powerful pro-choice champion to Kentucky’s State Senate!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

[ Chris ]Chris HansenChris Hansen (Denver Mayor – CO) – As one of the largest
cities in the United States, Denver has set ambitious plans to reach
net-zero emissions and be a national and global leader on climate. Whether
or not the city – and the state – can reach these goals and set an example
for other cities and states to follow will depend on the next mayor.

No one is better suited for the job than Chris Hansen (background in
engineering) who has more than two decades of experience working with
renewable energy, electric companies, and government agencies across the
board on improving efficiency, going green, and addressing the climate
crisis while creating good paying jobs. In the state legislature he’s been
the leading force to make the city and state greener.

Chris is up against a critical deadline in the next couple of days with
the general election just around the corner. Your support will be critical
in electing a climate champion to lead Denver and set an example for
mayors of America’s largest cities.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

[ Marianne ]Marianne LalondeMarianne Lalonde (Chicago Ward 46 – IL) – As the third
largest city in the country, the policies Chicago sets to address
homelessness, climate, gun violence, public health, and virtually every
major issue act as a roadmap for countless other cities to follow.

Right now, there isn’t a SINGLE scientist or STEM professional on the
entire City Council.

Dr. Marianne Lalonde (PhD in chemistry) lost her last election by just 25
votes (!) and has pivotal experience with the environment, healthcare,
energy efficiency, and clean water. With the election just one month away,
your donation will ensure she can reach more critical voters so we can
finally have a scientist on Chicago’s City Council.

[ [link removed] ]While $3 might not seem like much, when thousands of you give it could
be enough to power Cassie, Chris, and Marianne to victory in these
critical races where the elections are right around the corner!

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation
will be immediately processed and split between 314 Action Fund, Cassie
Armstrong in Kentucky, Chris Hansen in Denver, and Marianne Lalonde in Chicago.
