** Do you remember when they started saying pipelines weren't safe and we all laughed?

The Washington Times ([link removed]) (1/26/23) reports: "Consumer Product Safety Commissioner Richard Trumka Jr.’s threat of a federal ban on gas stoves this month has channeled the goals of left-wing billionaire think tanks that are making significant progress in pushing communities to eliminate fossil fuels. A web of environmental groups is stepping up the campaign to persuade states and local communities to switch to all-electric energy. The Rocky Mountain Institute, the Sierra Club and other green groups are working successfully to ban gas stoves and other gas appliances in communities throughout the U.S. as part of an aggressive move to implement a net-zero global economy by 2050. Some observers say the effort gained momentum in July 2019 during a two-day meeting hosted by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund at the Rockefeller family
mansion in Pocantico, New York. The strategy session paired dozens of high-ranking state officials with green energy groups, including the Rocky Mountain Institute, the Georgetown Climate Center and the Energy Foundation."

** "The United States’ commitment to the energy transition being “just” is firm. That is why President Biden made an additional commitment to President Ramaphosa of $45 million in grant funding to support South Africa’s efforts."

What's the secret to extending EV Range? Adding an internal combustion engine. Shh, don't tell anyone.
** Energy Transition Absurdities ([link removed])
(1/27/23) Substack: "Some mornings I already know what the Energy Absurdity of the Day will be when I jump out of bed. Today wasn't one of those days, but my dilemma was quickly resolved in an email from the gang at The Energy Transition Podcast. Armando Cavanha and Irina Slav were having email-style fits of laughter along with Dr. Tammy Nemeth, who had sent out a note linking to an article at Driving.ca detailing plans at Dodge to add range extending tech to its new Ram EV pickups. Why, it's a miracle!, the prophets of the energy transition might initially exclaim."

When anti-oil activists argued against oil companies increasing spending on oil exploration and production, do you think they understood they were arguing for massive oil company profits?

(1/27/23) reports: "Chevron Corp. posted disappointing fourth-quarter results just days after surprising investors with a mammoth $75 billion share-buyback program. Fourth-quarter adjusted profit of $4.09 a share fell 18 cents shy of the Bloomberg Consensus estimate. The company also incurred a $1.1 billion writedown in its overseas business. Chevron shares fell 1.5% at 8:15 a.m. in New York."
Copper demand needs to double to meet net zero targets. Biden takes more copper resources off the map to make the U.S. more import dependent.
** E&E News ([link removed])
(1/1/23) reports: "The Biden administration took final actions Thursday to protect waterways in pristine northeastern Minnesota, likely halting a proposed copper mine there, a move that inflamed Republican lawmakers who want to see domestic development of minerals critical for electric vehicle batteries and clean tech. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland signed an order withdrawing more than 225,000 acres in the state’s Superior National Forest from mining and geothermal leasing for an additional two decades, a decision she said would protect the Rainy River watershed, including the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and ceded tribal land, from the adverse effects of new mines, exploration and development tied to geothermal projects."
