John, Ticketmaster/LiveNation is the story of a monopoly gone wild -- and music fans know all too well what kind of havoc that wreaks on our economy.
Today, Ticketmaster/LiveNation accounts for about 70% of all ticket sales. That kind of power insulates a company from competition, allowing it to raise prices, impose long wait times and charge hidden fees. Case in point: About 25% of what concert-goers pay for tickets goes to LiveNation/Ticketmaster.
That’s why, as the chair of the Subcommittee on Competition Policy, Antitrust, and Consumer Rights, I called Ticketmaster/LiveNation to a bipartisan Senate hearing to shed light on these issues and push for solutions. If you’re able, will you donate today to help power my work?
We’re not out of the woods by any means, John, but holding companies like Ticketmaster accountable is a good place to start. I promise to keep working to update and strengthen our antitrust laws so we can put an end to these egregious practices.
My effort to take on monopolies is only possible because I know I can count on the support of this grassroots team. If you’re with me, I hope you’ll make a contribution of any amount today to help me keep going.
