At Adhikaar, our vision is to build a powerful, diverse and intergenerational community that embraces our whole selves. Together, we lift up and empower immigrants and workers through grassroots organizing and building political power. As we reflect on 2022, we’re excited to share some highlights and achievements—all of which were led by our incredible collective of members.

2022 was a challenging year, and yet full of transformation. We built intergenerational relationships at Adhikaar through the integration of our youth program, and centered worker rights and language justice across all our programs. We won a TPS extension through our legal strategy with the Ramos/Bhattarai team and organizing committee, ensuring that tens of thousands of TPS holders are now temporarily protected from deportation, can work legally and access health care until June 30, 2024. Our Domestic Worker and Nail Salon worker teams won historic new NYC Council budget initiatives to fund worker services and organizing.

Together with our members, we engaged deeper into our theory of change and supported one another in times of need through mutual aid programs and member-to-member solidarity. And we unveiled a new Strategic Alignment Plan, mapping out a roadmap for our next ten years.
