Here's how you can join me

Hey Friends,

It's been a while! I hope you all enjoyed a peaceful holiday season. I've spent the last few months regrouping, getting some rest, and gearing up for what's next. I'm back in the swing of things and hope you'll continue to partner with me in the fight for Florida families.

When I was your Democratic nominee, common sense gun safety legislation was at the center of my platform. That's why I received Moms Demand Action Gun Sense candidate distinction and endorsements from Everytown for Gun Safety and the Newtown Action Alliance.

Now, I am working our local with Moms Demand Action team to advocate for gun safety legislation. The Florida state legislature has the potential to dismantle gun safety in our communities this session:
any day now, we're expecting them file a permitless carry bill.
Permitless carry would allow people to carry firearms, openly or concealed, in public places without a criminal history check or safety training and would overturn Florida’s prohibition on openly carrying firearms, including assault rifles, in public.
This will have devastating effects on our communities - states who have weakened firearms permitting systems have experiences a 13-15%+ increase in violent crime rates. The Florida Sheriffs' Association and the Florida Police Chiefs' Association have already come out against permitless carry.
Here's what you can do to partner with us:

1. Email your state legislators TODAY and voice your opposition to this bill. You can find your state representative and senator here. ([link removed]) Tell them why you oppose permitless carry and ask them to support common-sense gun safety. Be sure to include your county and zipcode in your email!

2. If you are a business owner, sign on to this letter ([link removed]) opposing permitless carry with other Florida business leaders. Should this legislation pass, business owners in Florida are going to be adversely affected by these changes, infringing on private property rights and endangering patrons and employees.

3. Share this with your boss, best friend, co-workers, yoga buddies, or family members who live in Florida. Forward this email, voice your opposition on social media, whatever you can to spread the word.

Looking forward to what this year holds as we fight for Florida together.
